You have just learned about Bartolome de Las Casas- the Catholic priest who defended Indians rights. He wrote to the king of Spain to have the Indians get paid for their work. Unfourtnately he did not live long enough to see the similarities in the enslavement of the Indians and the Africans.
QUESTION: If Bartolome de Las Casas was alive around the time the Africans were being enslaved, what do you think he would've done to help the enslaved Africans?
